Media Pitching for ScienceTalk Column

This article was pitched to the media and first published on 9 May 2020 as part of the Covid-19 Special: Science Talk column in The Straits Times. It is a scientific take on how society may live with COVID-19 before a vaccination is created. Professor Soo Khee Chee, Benjamin Sheares Professor of Academic Medicine at Duke-NUS Medical School, and Professor Ooi Eng Eong, Deputy Director of the Emerging Infectious Diseases Programme at Duke-NUS Medical School, share their expertise in this article.

Action Salon Product Launch

Upmarket Action Salon collaborated with internationally-renowned fashion house Balmain to bring in their quality hair pieces and wigs. The launch was headlined by a hair show featuring these products as well as a post-event party.

Breast Cancer Awareness Carnival

As part of on-going efforts to raise awareness about the importance of breast cancer screening and support for patients, a carnival was organised in different locations, with a fashion show in a shopping mall featuring cancer survivors. The campaign sought to convince the public that with research, early prognosis and early treatment, it is possible for cancer survivors to have a good quality of life.

Stamford Diversion Canal

To alleviate the flood situation in Orchard Road, the Stamford Diversion Canal and Diversion Tank were built to accommodate increased heavy rain and flooding. The many commercial entities and residents affected by the construction works were engaged to create awareness, obtain their buy-in and address any feedback they may have throughout the course of the construction works. Meetings were conducted regularly to ensure that large number of personnel involved were kept on the same page.

Launch of BitPAL@Bishan-Toa Payoh

BitPAL is part of Bishan-Toa Payoh’s long-term strategy to encourage residents, especially the elderly, to exercise and stay active on a regular basis.  To show the residents how user-friendly the newly installed exercise machines are, BitPAL instructors would demonstrate exercises and be on-site to help residents for a stipulated amount of time. Ministers, who were guest-of-honours at the launch, addressed the press and demonstrated the use of the machines.

Ordination of Arch Bishop William Goh

A historic milestone for the Singapore Catholic Church, this event was witnessed by the President and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam, and other dignitaries including Deputy Prime Minister and Mrs Teo Chee Hean, Members of Parliament, members of the Inter-Religious Organisation, the clergy, religious and laity from Singapore and around the region.

Bishan Active Park Launch

Bishan Active Park was one of the earlier multi-generational and multi-purpose parks to be launched in a bit to encourage Singaporeans to engage in an active lifestyle, while spending time with their families. The launch was accompanied by much fanfare including a large carnival and appearances by MPs and Ministers.

Ribbons of Hope

The Ribbons of Hope campaign seeks to generate greater awareness and understanding about cancer through exhibitions and community activities to engage the public, young and old.

Action Salon Hair Show

To boost Action Salon’s profile, we supported their participation in the Audi Fashion Festival, assisting with media outreach.

President’s Challenge

The Presidents’ Challenge is a movement to encourage acts of kindness and generosity among people from all walks of life in Singapore. We supported outreach efforts for their fund-raising campaign on television.

Méthode Jeanne Piaubert is a Heritage French skincare brand. A fashion runway and product demonstrations for the media and social media influencers marked its exclusive launch at a local beauty salon.

Carrot Cake Conversations is an independent local movie for a niche audience. A press conference was held to engage the media and local industry enthusiasts.

Opening of Link Hotel

Link Hotel is a heritage hotel that was converted and restored from conserved art deco apartment blocks built in the 50s and 60s. A ground breaking ceremony was launched, and then an official opening ceremony when the hotel was open for business.
